About

My name is Brandt Hofman. I am a landscape, wildlife and nature photographer. My fascination with photography began on my childhood family vacations. I used to steal the camera from my mom and run around taking pictures of our trips to various national and state parks cemented my focus and subject on the outdoors and nature. Additionally the numerous sailing trips around the Great Lakes and the east coast had a large impact on my photography as well. Sailing taught me that the journey enhances the final destination. This led to my interest in film photography  and other older techniques such as wet collodion, pinhole and multiple dark room techniques. The process of film and working in the dark room allows me to be more active in the creative process and adds meaning to the image. Likewise, this also allows me to experiment and explore diverse techniques. This is also evident in my digital work as much of it comes from traveling and exploration.
