Obscura Flowers

Obscura Flowers is a series done for my advanced photography class. The assignment was to design and create a project of my own interest. I decided to work solely with pinhole photography and create my own cameras for the project. I chose to photograph flowers to reference  17th century Dutch painters such as Jan Brueghel and Willem van Aelst.

For the project, I used two different pinhole cameras. The first several images were created using an Altoids tin converted into a film camera. With one film roll on one end and an empty reel on the other I was able to slide the film across and take multiple images. These images are noted by the sprocket holes of the 35mm film and the copper toning. The second camera was created from a bulk film canister and used medium format film. These images use a selenium toner and the corners are black from the tape used to hold in the camera.
